Wings and drumsticks are the budget end of the range. Breast fillets sit in the middle at $12.99 per kg, and skinless thigh fillets are the dearest fresh cut on the list at $19.99 per kg.
How Much Is Chicken Breast per kg?
Our chicken breast is $12.99 per kg. It comes as chicken breast fillets in a 2kg pack for $25.98, and as with any fresh cut the weights are approximate.
If you would rather skip the chopping board, we can dice the pack for you. The diced option is $29.98 for the same 2kg.
Breast fillets are the lean, versatile cut, and they suit grilling, baking and stir-frying.
How Much Does a Whole Chicken Cost?
A whole chicken of approximately 2.5kg is $20. At that weight it works out to about $8 per kg, close to the price of drumsticks, and you get the breast, thighs, wings and drumsticks in the one bird.
Whole chickens suit roasting or grilling. Because the price is per bird rather than per kg, the final cost per kilo depends on the weight of the chicken you receive.
Wings, Drumsticks and Thighs: What the Other Cuts Cost
Chicken wings
Plain chicken wings are $5.99 per kg in a 2kg pack for $11.98, the lowest price per kg in our chicken range. Wingettes, which are wings with the tip removed, are $7.99 per kg. Marinated wings in satay, chilli and mango or BBQ flavour are $6.99 per kg, also in 2kg packs.
Chicken drumsticks
Drumsticks are $7.99 per kg, sold in a 2kg pack for $15.98. They are 100% Australian chicken and suit grilling, baking or frying.
Chicken thigh fillets
Skinless thigh fillets are $19.99 per kg, in a 2kg pack for $39.98. Like the breast fillets, they can be diced for you, which brings the 2kg pack to $43.98.
What Do Bulk and Ready-to-Cook Chicken Products Cost?
For stocking the freezer, our 5kg box of frozen chicken breast schnitzel is $99, which works out to $19.80 per kg. It is a frozen product, so it arrives ready to go straight into the freezer.
If you would rather cook it fresh, our own crumbed chicken breast schnitzel is $20 for a tray of six pieces.
Other ready-to-cook trays include chicken kebabs in plain, honey soy or smokey BBQ at $20.99 a tray, and chicken Kiev, cordon bleu or tomato, fetta and bacon twin packs at $19.99 for a tray of about 1kg. Chicken rissoles are $18.99 for a tray of six, and chicken breast nuggets are $14 for a 1kg bag.
